Fundraising Committee
The primary responsibility of the fundraising committee is the development, coordination, and execution of all chapter fundraisers. In addition, the committee responsibilities include: - Planning and organizing the Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet
- Planning and organizing the Annual Scholarship Golf Classic
- Developing, planning and organizing any additional chapter fundraising activities
- Working closely with the finance committee in coordinating fundraising activities
- Working closely with the communications committee in promoting fundraising activities
Membership Committee
The primary responsibility of the membership committee is the recruitment and retention of Alumni Extension members. In addition, the committee responsibilities include: - Devising and/or coordinating membership and recruitment activities and socials
- Processing membership applications into NSBE-BAE
- Welcoming and orienting new NSBE alumni members into NSBE-BAE
- Focusing on membership retention
- Developing and coordinating the chapter directory
Finance Committee
The primary responsibility of the Finance committee is to identify, secure, and maintain new and existing financial resources for the chapter. In addition, the committee responsibilities include: - Preparing and submitting a budget for the fiscal year to NSBE-BAE at the August meeting
- Preserving financial relationships with sponsors
- Developing, planning and organizing any additional chapter fundraising activities
- Submitting amendments, if necessary, to the budget for the current fiscal year, which may be adopted by a majority vote of the membership
- Developing and maintaining a Corporate Solicitation Packet
- Being responsible for solicitation of operating funds from Corporate Sponsors
- Auditing the book of accounts on an annual basis
Communications Committee
The primary responsibility of the Communications committee is the internal and external correspondence of NSBE-BAE programs and activities. In addition, the committee responsibilities include: - Assisting in the development and the implementation of innovative, efficient, and effective marketing campaigns
- Being responsible for communicating meeting and activity information including meeting or activity date, time, and location
- Developing and maintaining a chapter website, newsletter, email accounts, and server
- Keeping the chapter abreast on all national, regional, and local publication deadlines
- Being responsible for coordinating press releases for major events
- Identifying and interfacing with other technical organizations, Black professional associations, and civic organizations
Pre-College Initiative Committee
The primary responsibility of the PCI/CI committee is to develop programs that utilize the talents of NSBE Alumni Extension members in mentorship or other interaction with pre-college students at any grade level, undergraduate students, and graduate students in and around the Birmingham metropolitan area. In addition, the committee responsibilities include: - Developing and implementing innovative programs to stimulate the interest of our youth in the fields of science and technology
- Promoting technical education and careers
- Enhancing the availability of scholarships to technical minority students
- Acting as an interface, resource, and support system for NSBE student chapters in and around the Birmingham Metropolitan area
- Interacting with academia from high school to graduate school and serve as the Chapter liaison for those institutions
Programs Committee
The primary responsibility of the Programs committee is to coordinate the programs and professional development activities that accomplish the stated goals and objectives of NSBE and NSBE-BAE. In addition, the committee responsibilities include: - Submitting to NSBE-BAE for its approval at its regular meeting in August the annual program of NSBE-BAE
- Developing and coordinating the programs for quarterly General Body Meetings to fulfill the directives of NSBE and NSBE-BAE including the following topics:
- Entrepreneurship
- Technical Excellence
- Professional Excellence
- Community Impact
